Intense aromas of guava, passionfruit and gooseberry. A rich palate of tropical fruits, elderflower and pink grapefruit. Balanced with juicy acidity and a long lingering finish.
A single vineyard wine grown from our Terrace Stone Vineyard on Hammond Road near Renwick, right in the heart of Marlborough. This vineyard has lovely soil that lends itself well to organic viticulture with a deep layer of fine stones mixed with silt and loam over clay. This vineyard is sheltered by trees which aids in vigorous spring growth and provides a unique micro-climate to assist in ripening the fruit, achieving a riper style Sauvignon Blanc.
Vintage 2019 was a superb growing season in Marlborough characterised by two halves... plenty of spring rain produced beautiful lush growth, then a typically hot, dry summer, with just enough cool nights to produce powerful evenly ripened fruit flavours.
Machine harvested at optimum ripeness 26th March 2019. Destemmed to press and held for 1 hour on skins to gain flavour complexity. 90% stainless steel ferment, 10% neutral French oak barrel. The barrel portion underwent weekly lees stirring adding to intense richness and 5% of the barrel portion was fermented by wild yeast.
This wine would pair really well fresh seafood and Asian cuisine.
