Dark ruby in colour, medium intensity on the nose of ripe black plums, blackberries. On the palate shows more fresh tight characters of blackberry, black currant leaf, vibrant and fresh acidity.

The Unkel vineyard sits on a gentle North-facing slope on the Bronte Peninsula (about 2/3rds of the way from Nelson to Motueka), overlooking the Waimea Inlet which provides year-round, temperature-moderating sea breezes in the afternoons. The soils, ‘Moutere Clays’ are gravel threaded clay formed by an ancient river system flowing into the Tasman Bay. These vineyards have been cared for by Rob and their sole employee Jim Brown for the entire season.

This wine 100% Pinot Noir, all 777 clone. Was Destemmed, then fermented and matured in stainless steel with 2 weeks of maceration.

The aim of sustainable wines is for the viticulture and winemaking process to be environmentally conscious and socially responsible - whilst maintaining economic feasibility and high quality wines.
